A bit outside of town, in the village of Grainau at the base of the Zugspitze cable car, is the delightful Waxenstein, with its unique take on Bavarian rustic. The restaurant provides a breathtaking view of the mountains while serving excellent dishes such as gnocchi in ginger-pumpkin sauce, or veal filet with foie gras.
