Why We Like It

Kit Kemp’s design chops never fail to impress us and once again, the décor at Dorset Square is never dull. We like the chic style, personal service and feeling of luxury that extends above the price point.

Fodor's Expert Review

Another firm favorite from hotelier Kit Kemp’s empire of chic London boutique hotels, Dorset Square Hotel is all scaled down luxury and quirky design. Located within a beautiful historic townhouse in Marylebone, the hotel is a destination for weekend romance and couples’ occasions.

Room

The signature modern English Kit Kemp style is evident throughout the individually designed rooms, which feature bold patterned headboards, statement prints and bright, mismatched colors. Rooms are airy and light and some have street views. On a budget and travelling alone? Opt for a single room to save on money if you don’t mind sacrificing the space.

You Should Know Beware, even some of the superior double rooms feel tight for space.

Bathroom

Grey granite and marble bathrooms with walk-in showers are the one identical thread running throughout the hotel.

Lobby

Housed within an old townhouse, space is understandably at a premium, which means no lobby to speak of. Instead, the hotel’s Drawing Room provides a sophisticated spot to relax on a cozy armchair in front of the log fire, while admiring the cricketing memorabilia on display.

Dining

Unlike some of the Firmdale Group’s townhouse hotels, Dorset Square has a fully functioning restaurant. The Potting Shed—yes, you can expect to see shelves stacked with garden pots—serves a modern European menu with some brunch favorites.

Drinking

When you’re done with dining, stay where you are because the Potting Shed doubles as the hotel’s bar. Cocktails sat at the bar are clearly the thing here.

Tip Afternoon Tea is served all day in the Potting Shed—a children's option is also available.

Getting Around

Pleasantly removed from the bustle of Central London but still close enough for a long stroll into the heart of the city, Marylebone is a neighborhood blessed with plenty to take your fancy. There are the boutiques, the cool cafes and the restaurants, and then there’s the vast expanse of Regent’s Park to explore. Super close to Marylebone Underground, getting around is easy from the hotel.

Restaurants

Swap the chic confines of Dorset Square Hotel for the even chicer Chiltern Firehouse (10-minute walk) where you’ll eat some of the finest food around and maybe even spot a celebrity or two. For a trip back in time to 19th century Vienna, try Fischer’s (11-minute walk) for coffee, cake and classic European brasserie dishes.

Bars

The Duke of Wellington (7-minute walk) is a delightful pub if you don’t like your pubs too rough around the edges, while Purl (11-minute walk) is the place to proceed with that romantic vibe you’ve been cultivating all weekend.
