Upper South Island and the West Coast Planning

Anything less than three or four days through Nelson and Marlborough and an additional three to four days on the West Coast will be too few. Don't be deceived by the maps; steep, winding roads slow down the drive times. Campervans proliferate these roads in summer, and tend to move slowly so be patient and wait for a clear place to pass.
