Pop Surrealist muralist Okuda San Miguel has always included bold shapes and saturated colors in his paintings. His recent work, “11 Mirages to the Freedom” takes his signature street style to an old church in Yousooufia, Morocco. The mural wraps the entire façade in a geometric rainbow explosion featuring 11 different characters. The characters are painted as such that they take on a three-dimensional quality by interacting with the structural features of the church.
Barred windows serve as cages and crowns.
The Street Art Caravane, sponsored by the British Council Morocco, has been an ongoing celebration of urban art and public space, and challenged artists to revamp walls, bridges, and buildings throughout the city. Ten international and national artists painted murals across the walls of the city.
